Chief Minister Naidu Reinitiates Capital Construction at Amaravati

Amaravati, October 19: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has officially restarted the construction works for the Amaravati capital. The ceremony took place at Lingayapalem-Uddandarayunipalem in Tulluru mandal, where the Chief Minister participated alongside Minister P. Narayana, who conducted a puja to bless the project. The government is resuming work through the CRDA office, which is tasked with the construction of a seven-floor building, initially estimated at ₹160 crore.

A Vision for a World-Class City
Minister Narayana addressed the gathering, acknowledging the difficulties faced by Amaravati farmers over the past five years. He noted that after four months of discussions, the government has addressed technical issues hindering the project. Despite financial challenges, compensation has been provided to farmers, with the government reaffirming its commitment to fulfilling earlier promises. "We are determined to develop Amaravati into a world-class city," he stated.

MLA Sravan Kumar criticized the YSRCP administration for neglecting the region, claiming it has suffered significantly over the last five years. He asserted that the coalition government has begun resolving these issues, ensuring that all eligible farmers, except those with legal disputes, receive compensation. He further urged for pensions for laborers in Amaravati and called for the dismissal of what he termed unjust cases against local farmers.

Linking Capital Development to State Progress
The Chief Minister emphasized that the development of Amaravati is crucial for the overall progress of Andhra Pradesh. The government’s decision to resume construction was made during a CRDA Authority meeting on October 16.

The CRDA project office was first established in 2017, covering 3.62 acres, and will feature a G+7 building spanning 2,42,481 sq ft. Additional facilities, including parking and landscaping, will extend over 2.51 acres. So far, ₹61.48 crore has been invested in the project, with significant works like architectural finishing, interiors, electrical, and mechanical systems still pending. The remaining construction is projected to require an additional ₹160 crore to complete.
