On January 3, 2025, newly elected Congressional representatives and senators will take their oaths of office. The Electoral College votes will be counted by Congress in a special joint session on January 6, 2025. A candidate who secures 270 or more electoral votes will be declared the president, with the same rule applying for the vice president. The newly elected president is scheduled to be sworn in at noon on January 20, 2025.
