Vijayawada ( Journalist File ): The police in Vijayawada are on the hunt for YSR Congress Party leader and former FiberNet Corporation Chairman Gautham Reddy, who stands accused of a conspiracy to kill landowner Uma Maheswara Sastry. The alleged motive was to take control of a high-value plot of land. Vijayawada Police Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu, addressing the media, revealed that the investigation has uncovered Gautham Reddy’s involvement in the conspiracy, which reportedly included hiring contract killers to eliminate Sastry.
Reddy is now a fugitive, with police teams actively searching for him. According to the Commissioner, the investigation found that Gautham Reddy faces a staggering 43 cases, including murder charges, and has a history of criminal activities. It was noted that a prior rowdy sheet against him was mysteriously closed, prompting authorities to revisit the matter.
Special Teams Mobilized for Manhunt
The Commissioner explained that Reddy had allegedly used forged documents to seize disputed property, which led to a formal complaint by Sastry. Following the complaint, two special task forces have been set up to track down the remaining suspects. “Four suspects have been apprehended so far, but five, including a key figure named Anil, are still at large,” stated Rajasekhar Babu. Evidence from call records indicates connections between Anil and another suspect named Prithviraj.
“We are gathering all necessary technical evidence and have made significant progress,” the Commissioner said, adding that all findings will be submitted in court.
Warning Against Criminal Activities
The Commissioner took a tough stance, warning that those engaging in unlawful activities will face severe consequences. “We will not tolerate criminal elements who believe they can act with impunity,” he asserted, vowing to crack down on gangs involved in violent crimes and the drug trade.
Social Media Misuse Targeted
Rajasekhar Babu also pointed to the rise in cases involving offensive posts on social media, noting that over 50 cases have been registered recently. He warned that those who misuse online platforms to defame others would not go unpunished.
As the investigation widens, more revelations are expected, and the police have intensified efforts to apprehend all those involved.
