Hyderabd ( Journalist File ) : Tollywood Actor Allu Arjun has been arrested in connection with a tragic incident that occurred during the benefit show of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre, RTC Crossroads, on December 4. The stampede, triggered by the actor's arrival, led to the death of a woman, Revathi (39), and left her son, Sritej (9), critically injured.
The family of the deceased filed a complaint, prompting the police to register a case against Allu Arjun. The Chikkadpally police later arrested the actor and took him into custody. Additionally, three individuals, including a security guard and two members of the theatre management, were arrested for their role in the incident.
Allu Arjun has been charged under sections BNS 118(1), BNS 105, and Redwith 3/5, with Section 105 being a non-bailable offense that carries a potential prison sentence of five to ten years.
The actor expressed his grief over the tragedy and announced a financial assistance of ₹25 lakh to the victim's family. He also offered his support, vowing to stand by the family during their difficult time.
In response to the FIR, the theatre management and its partners have filed petitions to have the charges dismissed. Allu Arjun, in turn, filed a petition arguing that incidents like this are common during film promotions and that he had informed the theatre management and police officials, including the local ACP, in advance. The actor denied any negligence on his part and rejected the claim that his presence caused the stampede.
Allu Arjun has requested that the charges be quashed, the investigation halted, and that no further action be taken against him. The court is expected to hear his petition on Thursday, as the police continue their investigation.
